BUMAD contributes to regional drug control system
Kyiv, 25 February: International drug control Conventions have reached major achievements, but face many challenges, the participants in a joint EU-UNDP Final Conference of the Programme for the Prevention of the Drug Abuse and the Fight against Drug Trafficking in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova (BUMAD) stated today in Kyiv. Reinforcing capacity development and regional cooperation in addressing drug problems in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova are the focus of the today's international conference.
Seminar on Organizing Controlled Deliveries Held in Minsk
Within the framework of the joint EU/UNDP project ““Programme of Assistance for the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Drug Trafficking in Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova (BUMAD)” a regional seminar “Practical Aspects of Conducting Effective Controlled Deliveries to Prevent Drug Trafficking” was held on the basis of the International Training Center on Migration and Trafficking in Persons of the Academy of the Ministry of the Interior of Belarus on November 4-6, 2008.
Polish Experts Share Experience on Liquidation of Clandestine Drug Laboratories
A workshop on detecting and liquidating of clandestine drug laboratories was held in the International Training Centre for Migration and Human Trafficking of the Academy of the Ministry of the Interior on October 21-23 under the guidance from the Polish forensic experts. More than 30 Belarusian criminologists and experts from the counter narcotics and organized crime units took part in the workshop.
Joint EU/UNDP project “Programme of Assistance for the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Drug Trafficking in Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova (BUMAD)” continues its series of events in the area of drug prevention in 2008.
In September and October of 2008, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel and Grodno successfully hosted seminars “Interactive Methods and Elements of Theatre Art in Drug Prevention” for social pedagogues of educational and extracurricular institutions. Similar seminars were held in April-May in Minsk and Mogilev.
Training on Fundraising Basics Showed NGOs How to Work with Donors
From June 30 to July 2, in the framework of the component “Development of capabilities of NGOs in drug prevention”, a training on fundraising basics was held for the representatives of Belarusian NGOs engaged in drug prevention, harm reduction and rehabilitation of drug users. The expert trainer Svetlana Kuts taught the participants to improve the organizational capacity and financial sustainability of an organization.
