Methodological support of NGOs networks

Objective:

To establish an integral system in the area of enhancing capacities of developed in-country NGO networks, ensuring their local collaboration around the Continuum of Care, fostering mutual respect and enlarging the scope of services (regional network improves the development of comprehensive, professional and evidence-based strategies meaning that necessary health and social care response could be mobilized).

Implemented activities:

    1. Selection of 60 NGOs in demand reduction and identification of model projects;
    2. To train NGO staff and to support the implementation of model projects;
    3. Dissemination of NGOs best practices and regional networking.

    Progress:

    Belarus

      • Capacities of 5 NGOs reinforced through series of trainings on project development and management with special focus on networking;
      • Best practices of two Belarusian NGOs model projects disseminated at the Regional Conference in Ukraine (2005).

      Ukraine

        • Capacities of more than 30 NGOs reinforced through series of trainings on project development and management with special focus on networking (new for Ukraine response to drug abuse trough the provision of continuum of care piloted).
        • Best practices of NGOs model projects disseminated at the Regional Conference in Ukraine.

        Moldova

          • Capacities of more than 10 NGOs reinforced through series of trainings on project development and management with special focus on networking
          • Best practices of three Moldovan NGOs model projects disseminated at the Regional Conference in Ukraine.

          Activities planned for 2007:

          The continuum of care principle has been soundly adopted by NGOs within BUMAD 1 and 2 in the region and will be central to future development of services.

          Local cooperation and partnership has been successfully practiced. NGOs across the region have begun a dialogue which includes practitioners committed to abstinence and those committed to harm reduction. Tolerance and mutual respect has prevailed and this augurs well for development of services and support of clients.
